[Rotary] One less friend

John Porter passed away peacefully last night.  He was in the local hospital with pneumonia.  I visited him there yesterday, and he was in no distress.

His heart had been slowly failing for years.  John and I had discussed end of life issues several times over the years, and he was adamant about not being placed on life support.  

He did not fear death, supported by his Christian faith and the comfort of having lived a principled, productive life.  We will miss him.
