Hi Annie,

Thank you for getting back to me!  We are looking forward to your involvement in this wonderful project.  We are promoting the adoption of Blue Zones across worksites, schools, restaurants, grocery stores, faith-based communities and neighborhoods in Mendocino County, and our hope is that you will share the Blue Zone invitation in the below email with your colleagues, friends and family who may be interested.  Please do not hesitate to reach out if I can assist in anyway with passing on this information.

With gratitude,

Hello,

If you haven’t already RSVP’ed, please join us for the Mendocino County Blue Zones Site Visit fromMay 3 - 7. During this process, there will be multiple opportunities to participate. The events have been organized by region because we know Mendocino County spans a large geography and each of our communities has unique needs and strengths. You are encouraged to select the region you identify with most, or the date that is most appropriate for your schedule. Pleaseregister here:   go.bluezonesproject.com/mendocinocounty

Adventist Health is excited to be the key sponsor of Blue Zones in Mendocino County. Blue Zones is a model that has identified nine principles for a healthy lifestyle which promotes longevity. To learn more about Blue Zones visit:https://www.bluezones.com/live-longer-better/#section-6

Attached is a poster available for sharing.  Please let us know if you would like additional posters for display.

Adventist Health is taking steps to expand our care beyond our hospital walls to improve community well-being. We are excited to partner with Blue Zones because it offers a holistic approach to transform communities which focuses on the health of people, places and policy. The process includes working with local government, tribes, schools, employers, non-profits, faith-based organizations, grocery stores, restaurants and community members to make healthy choices more accessible. Together, with you and the Blue Zones framework, we hope to see lower obesity rates, increased vegetable consumption, increased daily physical activity, improved productivity and improved physical, social and emotional well-being in Mendocino County.

Blue Zones is not new for our community. In 2017, there were several community meetings regarding Blue Zones implementation in the Ukiah Valley. We are now reviving the conversation and expanding to all of Mendocino County. We are in the early stages of initiating a Blue Zones conversation for a county-wide approach. The process starts by introducing the concept to key leaders, completing an internal readiness assessment, then introducing Blue Zones to the broader community. The steps are as follows:

Step 1: Road Shows for Key Leaders, completed in March 2021

Step 2: Readiness Assessment, in process

Step 3: Site Visit & Focus Groups, scheduled for May 3-7, 2021

Step 4: Foundation & Planning, nine-month long process earmarked for July 2021 to March 2022

Step 5: Transformation & Certification, earmarked for 2022-2025

For the model to truly work, we need your participation and input. I look forward to seeing you there! Please RSVP and forward this invitation to anyone you believe would appreciate learning more about Blue Zones!
