Hi Rotarians and Friends of Rotary,
Tomorrow, April 23, at 2:00 the Mendocino Rotary Club will meet to celebrate Earth Day in Rotary Park.
The celebrate the day in a traditional Rotary way we will get together in a safe outdoor setting and plant two trees, which have been procured by Donna, with the help of the High School Interact and Rotary clubs. We will provide the usual shovels, picks, wheelbarrows, water and soil and each one of us will have the chance to help in or observing the planting. Afterward we will reach out to cleanup the park and any trash in the town.
John Cottle has earned a Paul Harris award, which we will give him at the meeting.
Donna Schuler, John Cottle, Ray and Matthew have taken the lead in making this happen. Each of them will say a few words after which we will plant the trees.
Serena Acker will be leading the student group. It will be their first day of school, another reason to celebrate.
Leona Walden will be photographer. Robin Epley of the Beacon has been invited to attend, though we are not sure if she will be able or not.
Afterward we will put together an article about the event, which will be provided to our District and the Beacon.
Water and soft drinks will be provided.
The picnic tables are now more dispersed through the Park so please either bring a chair or be prepared to stand.
Since we do not have electrical power yet we will use an I-phone and speaker for sound amplification.
We will NOT have a zoom meeting this week.
See you in the Park!!
