Dear Rotarians,
It seems important that although we cannot meet as a club we need to keep acting to make our world a better place. I like Donna's suggestion that we all contribute the amount we would have spent on lunch ($25 a week each, $300-500 or so a week in total if we all chip in) to be used to help our Mendocino community weather the Coronavirus downturn in our economy. Those of us who have not paid Jerry for the theater should do so.
We need to talk about possibilities for service. Perhaps provide transport, food and other support those who have lost their jobs, and/or to the elderly or those particularly at risk who are sheltering at home, or providing funding from our unused lunch meeting receipts to other organizations who do these things.
The toilet block in Vanuatu is under construction and I have recommended we help with the installation of toilets and doors to get it into operation before school resumes again on May 17. We will have to move fast to do this. The International Committee will meet this week to discuss.
Plans for construction in the Park are moving ahead.
We also should try to get our sunshine report going again, and need a volunteer.
Last but not least, let me know if you have Skype or Zoom. We can probably convene committee and Board meetings using one of these services.
