[Rotary] Subject: Covid 19 Vaccine

There are MANY vaccines in development around the world, around 130 when I
last checked. One is already being field tested in Russia, prior to having
compled Phase 3 trials. By early next year Russia will either proudly
announce a first, or sweep another sad failure under the rug. Such is the
progress of things in totalitarian systems. I find it interesting that
China is testing theirs in the UAE, not on their own citizens.

When a vaccine is approved by the FDA, it will go to military and essential
workers first, especially health care workers and self-appointed important
government officials. I don't expect for the vaccine to be available for
sale for a long time. I would be extremely wary of one not FDA
approved, and moderately skeptical of one given FDA accelerated approval.
Every few years an FDA approved item is withdrawn for various reasons.

Advice from one of my trainers in med school, "Don't be the first to
embrace something new, but don't be the last either."

Science skeptic,
John Cottle

Frodo: I wish none of this had happened.

Gandalf: So do all who live to see such times, but that is not for them to
decide. All that we have to decide is what to do with the time that is
given to us.
