Good morning everyone,

We have three new Rotarian's in our club and they are newly included in
this listserv.

*HOW WE COMMUNICATE*
Our Mendocino Rotary listserv is supported through the Mendocino Community
Network (MCN), our local school district owned Internet Service Provider
(ISP). Harold and I are administrator's and can add names. We don't
moderate.

Anyone who is subscribed (currently 40 members- mostly Rotarian's and a few
friends of Rotary) can send, and everyone on the list will receive the
message, and can also respond. It is useful!

*NEW MEMBERS*
Congratulations to Toby Wade who was introduced and inducted at our 52nd
Charter Night on Thursday at the Sequoia Room! We had a really nice time-
good company- food-music and venue! Thank you Jerry!! If you want to get
the email address of new members Alida Morzenti, Toby Wade, and Mike
Sandys, I would ask them directly, or they can respond to all on this small
private list if they want to.

Here is the listserv address to send to:

rotary at lists.mcn.org

*FUNDRAISERS*
Please note, John Porter now has a gmail email address,
johnporter631 at gmail.com
Use that email address to communicate with John. John and I are working on
the fundraising mailer letter and collecting names. Please send me lists
used from previous events like casino night, golf tournament and yes, even
the art auction. Please edit and make sure names, address and emails are
current before sending.

We do have other fundraisers in the works, including a concert/ dance at
the Caspar INN that Susan owns. John Cottle has the musical contacts, but
he is not the chair. Who will be the chair?
Sean mentioned a raffle for a ATV or quad. Any action on that?

*BUDGETS*
I am briefly touching on our budget here. Because we did not have Casino
Night, all committees have to reduce their spending. New fiscal year begins
July 1st. John Cottle took the minutes at the board meeting last Thursday
and will update soon.

*YOUTH SERVICE (one of our areas of service, and one of our committees)*
Jody will be looking for a few Rotarian's (new members we hope!) to present
dictionaries to third grade students in Mendocino. It is also scholarship
selection time. By now the Mendocino High students have completed their
applications. If you have done this before, please contact me or Jody. New
members welcome! We need to hold interviews after we read the approx ten
applications and discuss. Scholarship awards night is in early May at
Mendocino High. There is no District 5130 Rotary Youth Leadership camp
(RYLA) for us to sponsor this year. The Interact youth leadership club we
support at the High School responded to my email to teacher/ advisor
Serena, and they are most able to support a fundraiser that we put on, with
their top choice being an event like Bingo night. They could collaborate
with our concert/dance, but if we hold at the Caspar Inn- maybe not?

*LEADERSHIP*
Congratulations to Matt O'Halloran and John Cottle for attending PETS or
President Elect Training this weekend! Upcoming for all of our Rotarian's
is the District Assembly. If you care to make our club successful in our
projects, the Assembly is the #1 way to get us there. The Assembly presents
succinct information and widens worldview of what Rotarian's in our
District and the world are achieving. President Gary sent an email last
week. If getting to Santa Rosa for the early start 8:00 am does not suit
you, may I suggest getting room the night before, and meeting those of us
who will leave at 5 am from Mendocino?

*MEETINGS*
As a reminder, we meet 4 times a month on Thursday at the Mendocino Hotel,
about 11:50- 1:00. First and third Thursdays we have a guest speaker, AKA-
a Program. The second meeting of the month is our club meeting- a perfect
time to cover a little club business and for committees to meet. The fourth
Thursday meeting is our board meeting. All members can, and many do attend-
not just committee chairs and board members. Our Mendocino Rotary
Foundation meets separately, and has a separate board of directors. Our
Foundation has a 501c3 status, and besides handling actions for Rotary
Park, is our Foundation for people to make tax deductible donations. Again,
all club members are welcome to attend. Generally, the meetings are held on
Tuesday at noon at the Mendocino Hotel, when needed, and when Jerry sends
out an email notice.

Thanks for reading! Looking forward to hearing from you!
