Thanks for asking, Matt.
Our Mendocino County Public Health dept and numerous clinics, the Adventist
hospitals, and many other community stakeholders including Calfire, the
Commumity Foundation, NCO, etc did a collaborative Community Health Needs
Assessment in 2015-2016. Informed from those surveys, together created a
Community Health Improvement Plan. You have seen and heard of the Aceessory
Dwelling Units (ADU’s) in Fort Bragg, right? That sprung from the Housing
needs Action Team. There are four other identified greatest needs, and
Action Teams working on those health issues and bringing about change. Many
hands make light work, and this is truly a collaborative effort. Thais is
in charge of facilitating Action Teams, and organized the event at Fort
Bragg Town Hall that had an overflowing crowd in October. People do want to
solve our problems: Housing, Mental Health, Childhoood Trauma, Poverty,
Family and Childhood Obesity. It will be a snapshot of the progress to
date. A good one for informing service oriented Rotarians, for sure!
