Hi All,
At the last meeting there were discussions on what to do about Charter
Night and Debunking.
I am suggesting the following for discussion:
Charter Night: This to celebrate the formation of our club which was
formed in 1966. It is usually held in January or February. It is an
evening of fellowship including retired past Presidents. It's too late to
schedule a January date so I suggest we look at a Thursday, Friday or
Saturday in late February. I am in contact with Joe Seata of North Coast
Brewery to have the event at the Sequoia Room. We would have dinner,
comradery and music. Let me know if this is something the club would like
to do and suggest a date. I will try to confirm it with Joe. Price would
be around $25 per person depending on what we order off the menu. A
decision has to be made quickly!
Debunking: This a celebration where the President recognizes club
officers and members who have contributed to the club. He/She can also
recognize the Rotarian of the Year and possibly the Citizen of the Year.
Finally it is the day that the President hands the gavel to the
President-Elect. It is usually held in late June. I suggest we consider
having Debunking at the Mendocino Theater's production of "Ideation"
directed by Bob Cohen. There are dates on Thursday 6/21 and 6/28
available. There are also Friday and Saturday performances those weeks,
if those are preferable. We would have hors d'oeuvres and drinks before
the play. Upon entering the theater the club President would give out his
awards, including the Rotarian and Citizen of the Year Awards and turn the
gavel over to the President-Elect. Possibly Bob Cohen would gives a brief
introduction to the play. At Intermission we would serve coffee and
dessert.
Cost would be around $35, with alcoholic beverages as a cash bar.
If this program, for Debunking, is of interest let me know ASAP so I can
contact tbe theater for reserving a night for Rotary.
I look forward to your comments and suggestions.
Jerry
