Dear Mendo Rotarians,
Two weeks ago the speaker we had was a group doing “street medicine” with
the homeless. This scenario is helping in two ways. The first and obvious
is helping the health of those homeless and secondly it is helping them
avoid ER visits (usually non-reimbursed) which can be a drain on the
finances of the hospital.
Besides socks and gently used warm clothing, the group mentioned being in
need of “personal hygiene” items. Ray approached Tom Honer about seeing if
Rotary “passed the hat” would Harvest consider selling the items at cost
for this cause and he liked that idea.
We are asking everyone that is interested in helping this worthy cause to
bring cash next week so we can pass the hat. Keep in mind that since our
money will be utilized buying wholesale it will be leveraged so please
consider being extra generous.
Regards,
Ray Alarcón and John Cottle
