Our beloved fellow Rotarian Wilma Tucker passed away about an hour ago in
her home overlooking the ocean, surrounded by friends and family.

"Friends" to Wilma included nearly everyone she met. Many of us will
receive this news with a tear and a smile at the same time. She had the
gift of lighting up a room, and of making all of us want to be better
persons. Even when she couldn't be there, when her name was mentioned in
our Rotary meetings smiles would pop up on many faces.

Most of you know of the struggles from physical ailments which kept Wilma
from coming to meetings the past few years. Despite dealing with physical
pain, and with the frustration of not being with her friends more often,
she never showed any sign of self pity. Rather, she mustered up a crooked
smile and asked how YOU were doing, and how her Rotary Club was doing.

Wilma chose her time to leave this world, and together with an editor wrote
her own obituary to appear in the Beacon. She didn't want a memorial
service for reasons I do not know. Let us all take a moment to reflect on
the grace, love, and dignity she shared with us all, and resolve to be
better persons for it.
