Title: Rotary Lunch Meeting
Dear Rotarians,

Happy New Year Greetings!

We are starting out 2018 with our meeting Calendar pretty much booked  
through March. MCDH CEO Bob Edwards will be our speaker this Thursday Jan  
4th, giving us a MCDH update, and will likely talk about the proposed  
parcel tax. You may have received a friendly reminder call from a fellow  
Rotarian. We do need an RSVP, especially if you will be bringing guests.  
Attendance needs to improve so we don't drain our admin account.

Jan 11th will have Dan Hamburg, 5th District Supervisor as speaker, and our  
District Governor Bob Rogers will present Paul Harris awards to three club  
Rotarians. Let's show respect and honor to these three with full  
attendance. International Committee will meet post meeting.

January 18th is our 3rd meeting of the month, which means it is an EVENING  
meeting (5:30-6:30) and will have Sharon Davis, CEO of the Mendocino Coast  
Chamber of Commerce as speaker. Did you know that the Mendocino Rotary Club  
is a chamber member, and we could host a Chamber mixer for increased  
awareness and Rotary visibility? Attending Chamber mixers is also  
encouraged for any Rotarian.

January 25th is scheduled as our monthly board meeting, but we may hold a  
4th meeting as a much needed Club Assembly to discuss attendance, lunch  
venue and cost, upcoming Casino night, committee plans, and our one- half  
year status with membership.

Our President-Elect Matt recently decided he cannot serve as Club  
President. I am at a loss for words here. Our club needs a succession plan,  
which includes leadership in the form of a President-Elect and  
President-Nominee. Fifty years of our club making a difference is at risk  
of ending soon if leadership does not come forward. It is an honor to serve  
as your president, but I cannot serve two consecutive years.

Historically the President-Elect plans the Charter Night, and it is held in  
January each year. There is still time to plan a nice evening of fellowship  
if the President-Elect comes forward- and I will happily train!  
President-Elect Training (PETS) is held in March, it is enlightening  
(Hawaiian Rotary is in our Zone- and they host evening welcome events in  
their suites) essential training, and is paid for by our club. You will  
meet international leaders, and also have smaller group sessions with  
District President-Elects and the incoming District Governor.

It will be wonderful to see you soon, and I am look forward to hearing  
about your hopes and plans for Rotary Service this year.
