Dear Gary,

This message is being sent to all Rotarians in District 5130

*WHAT*

*Announcing Pedal 4 Polio 2018*

Hi Everyone...In 2017 Pedal 4 Polio went North to South along the Highway
101 Corridor, from Crescent City to Petaluma. And the clubs along that
corridor got to participate in supporting the riders with socials and
potluck dinners, hosting them for the night, sending them off in the
morning with great fanfare, perhaps hosting a rest stop, and in the process
creating strong bonds among the riders and their host Rotarians.

*Problem!* Although the Rotary Clubs along the 101 Corridor got to
participate, the Clubs along the Coast, and in Napa and Lake Counties did
not. *Solution?* *Pedal 4 Polio 2018*. We are going to ride from one side
of our District to the other…from Fort Bragg to Lakeport over a 5 day
period.

*WHERE & WHEN?*

   - Tuesday, October 2nd – Fort Bragg to Gualala – 58 miles
   - Wednesday, October 3rd – Gualala to Sebastopol – 61 miles
   - Thursday, October 4th – Sebastopol to Napa – 54 miles
   - Friday, October 5th – Napa to Middletown – 61 miles
   - Saturday, October 6th – Ride in Lakeport Rotary’s Konocti Challenge –
   66 miles

*300 miles total*

*WHY?*

Why are we doing this? I think you know the answer…to help raise awareness
in our communities of Rotary’s fight against polio, as well as raise funds
to help bring an end to this scourge. Last year’s Pedal 4 Polio was
successful in raising almost $140,000, or about $61 per Rotarian in the
District. This year we would like to ask each and every Rotarian to pledge
at least $65 to your favorite rider, or if you don’t have a favorite
rider…to all riders! Details will follow shortly on how to donate. And
lastly, to *“have a good time while doing good” **J*

*WHO?*

Attached is a spreadsheet listing the riders who have committed to the
Ride. There are limited spaces still available for the whole ride, and one
and two day riders are also encouraged to join us, especially as we pass
thru your community. Contact Bob Rogers at crobertrogers at comcast.net for
details and to get on the list.

*PEDAL 4 POLIO BIKE JERSEYS*

Whether you ride in P4P or not, we are making P4P bike jerseys available to
all Rotarians in the district. The design is similar to the first year’s
jerseys. They are a bargain at $60. *WARNING – Order immediately. Deadline
is Sunday, August 19th (This weekend, only 4 days away). **See Attachment
labeled P4P 2018 Jerseys for details.*
