I have not picked up the papers yet, but I will today and check it out.
Thanks Jerry! For those of you who missed the meeting, my thoughts echo
what Matt said. Adding to them, our* August 18th golf tournament*,
and our *September
8th "bar" we will run at the Masonic Hall in Fort Bragg* need our immediate
focus to be successful, then *poof* they are done and we can continue to
work on our Avenues of service. We need everyone to contact Jody or me and
tell us how many hole sponsors you sold, or prizes garnered for the raffle
or auction, or teams you have signed up to play, or what and when you'll do
to help at the golf tournament. Thank you Wilma for phoning me to donate
the 18 bottles of wine! We will pick up on August 16th.
We were so pleasantly surprised to see our guest Aleta at yesterdays
meeting. I was eager to learn about her new life in Mendocino. Such an
interesting person and great addition to our community! She would make a
wonderful Rotarian. You won't know and be able to say hello when you see
her around town unless you come and meet her! Thanks for inviting her to
lunch, Matt. At the Board retreat I did agree to assist Sean with
membership. Anyone who has new member packet materials, please get them to
me ASAP. The process must be streamlined and easy. First of, do not ask
people to join. Invite them to lunch. Period. Let them come and learn
about Rotary. Introduce them to me and Sean so we can help with follow up
on their interests.
At our Board retreat all committee chairs agreed to continue, and the
continuity is good!! This is how we gain momentum and improve on what we
accomplished last year. Now that we are in a new year, we are seeking
programs. Brandt is the programs chair. We continue with 3 club meetings a
month with the fourth being the board meeting. We will have two speakers a
month. One meeting will be for club business. We want a variety of
programs as we had last year. Some business people, community leaders,
authors, etc.- I already invited Aleta to be a speaker for our club- she is
an expert on many things, one being Ornithology and birds of prey! We do
not want speakers that we had in the past year, unless its Tom Allman. :-)
All members, please send Brandt the interested speakers name, email, phone
number, and topic. Brandt will take care of emailing the speaker and
scheduling. He'll do his best to find a date that suits you and the speaker
so that you can serve as fine master. Brandt will let them know how much
time they have and will find out if they need the projector set up. Once he
has them confirmed, he will cc me and the club service the name, I'll put
the info on our website calendar and send on to the paper so they can
list. It looks like we are moving meetings to the Mendocino Hotel Sept 1
so that we do not lose money. This is completely related to low attendance.
It will be a challenge to set up there, but we'll do what's needed. Next
Thursday is open. Have a speaker who is ready to go?
Our District Governor, Barb Spangler is coming on August 16th. We have a
board meeting with Barb at 10, then our regular meeting at 11:45. You will
want to meet Barb, I know she wants to meet you.
Gary collected donations for the Fire relief fund. The Mendocino Complex
fires jumped in acreage last night and many more structures were burned!
Went from 38% percent containment yesterday to 20% !! Please see Gary'r
recent email if you want to mail a check directly. We discussed how
effective the LARCA fund, established with the Lake County fires three
years ago has been most effective.
Sunshine wishes for John Porter, Wilma, and Karen Stubbs!
Thanks for feedback on this email thread Jerry and Matt started. Click
reply all, please.
