Hi Everyone,
This is Fire Relief information from our District Governor Bob Rogers. If
you will be donating as he has suggested to the overhead fund, please bring
your $10 check to the next meeting on December 7th. If you want to donate
to the actual relief fund, you can write a separate check and we can send
those together to our District.
Thank you,
Donna Schuler

Dear Donna,
This message is being sent to all District 5130 Presidents and Treasurers.
As you all know, we have been soliciting donations for the District 5130
Fire Relief Fund, and telling folks that 100% of their donations will go to
their intended purpose...helping the fire survivors re-establish their
lives, homes and businesses. So how do we cover the overhead? We've
decided to model this after the method that LARCA (Lake County Area Rotary
Club Association) used during their fires of the last two years, which was
asking each Rotarian in their 4 clubs to donate $20 to cover their Fire
Relief Funds overhead cost, so they could assure donors that 100% of their
monies was going to the fire survivors.
We are now asking Rotarians throughout the District to do the same...only
we are requesting a donation of only $10 per Rotarian due to economy of
scale.
Right now, thanks to LARCA, the District is utlilizing their 501(c)3
non-profit status for the District's Fire Relief Fund, but we are in the
process of filing for our own 501(c)3, which we will call the District 5130
Disaster Relief Fund. When we receive that status, we will roll over the
donated fire relief funds from the LARCA 501(c)3 to the District's. We
are forming our own 501(c)3 so that when the next disaster strikes us,
whether it be a wildfire, earthquake or tsunami, the District will be in an
immediate position to accept donations and distribute funds as rapidly as
possible.
The "Overhead Funds" will be kept in a separate Distirct account. If there
are any "Overhead" funds left over from your $10 donations, they will be
kept in a separate account for that same purpose (covering overhead) when
the next disaster strikes.
When you collect the funds and are ready to send them in, please make the
check payable to "Rotary District 5130", and in the memo section put "D5130
FRF Overhead", and mail to:
Barbara Barney
District 5130 Treasurer
P.O. Box 1535
Sebastopol, CA 95473
Thank you for all you have done these last 40 days, housing evacuees, those
who lost their homes, donating to the fund, and in general, showing overall
support for our brothers and sisters, both within Rotary and without as
well. I am proud to be a part of this great District.
Yours in Rotary Service,
Bob
