Dear Rotarians
I am leaving for ten days on 11/28 to help with the care of my Aunt
Theresa, who lived with us for twelve years, and who is having a care
crisis after recently moving to a poorly run nursing home in upstate NY. I
am also going to give respite support to my sister Valerie who has been
managing 99% of the care. Thankfully, two of our Past Presidents graciously
offered to preside over meetings in my absence.
Our Rotary calendar is full of excellent programs, we have programs through
mid- January, but please check with Brandt and Heather, who have access to
our online calendar if you need to update what is posted.
http://www.mendocinorotary/org Our Charter night is on the calendar for
late January, as well as our Casino night in late February. Those two
events should be on every Rotarian's mind, and I hope you are asking
yourself "What can I do to help?" Who will chair?
Speaking of help- we are having a meeting for Fire relief this Tuesday
afternoon- possibly at 3:30. I'll give you updates as it pans out.
Basically, we are holding a tools donation drive very soon, so that we may
give tools to the fire victims in Redwood/ Potter Valley's.
Things our club desperately needs at this time:
- Interact Club needs a Rotarian Advisor to attend, ASAP. No one has
signed up yet. Jody is the Youth Service chair. Never in our clubs history
do I recall this lack for three months. This is not how service and
leadership works. I have info and will be happy to help you get started.
- Club Service. I spend at least 2 1/2 hours at each meeting. I need a
dedicated person to take this on. Dean and I will train. We have a system.
- Membership!! When was the last time you brought a guest? Kudos to
those who have, and I see it happening more- again, thank you! Guests that
aren't even interested in joining are just plain welcome. We had several
new faces at our two most recent programs, and this shows the best side of
our club to new people. This weeks evening program with Publisher Kate Lee
is the perfect time to invite new Main Street business owners and others
who cannot make the lunch time meetings.
A big THANK YOU to Jerry for planning a very successful club social. There
was a lot of laughter in the audience during the play, and plenty of
conversation before the play with the buffet, and at intermission. Again-
this was an opportunity to show our clubs welcoming face to the community
and mix in a way that was not asking for donations or money. I am proud of
our club, and what we stand for.
Warmly,
Donna
