We are now one of the sixteen clubs in district 5130 to reach more than $1,000 toward Polio eradication efforts. In Fact, between last week and this week we raised $1,250 towards Rotary’s eradication efforts. When matched with the Gates Foundations 2 for 1 grant, that equals total funds of $3,750 and at .60 cents per vaccine, your generous donations will help vaccinate 6,250 children.
You may pat yourselves on the back!

Subject: Fw: FINANCIAL UPDATE - DISTRICT 5130 - END POLIO - JULY 1, 2015 THROUGH NOV 2015
DISTRICT 5130 PRESIDENT,
Attached is the latest polio eradication fundraising update for 5130 a/o Nov. 15. Total polio contributions since July 1 total $ 69,272.30. Sixteen clubs have contributed over $1000. Sebastopol = $ 20,625, Sonoma Valley = $ 7,667, Calistoga = $ 7,170, Crescent City = $ 4,668, Cloverdale = $ 4,460, Sebastopol Sunrise = $ 3,579, Kelseyville Sunrise = $2,312, Healdsburg = $ 2,293, Santa Rosa Sunrise = $ 1,690, Arcata Sunrise = $ 1,575, South Ukiah = $ 1,545, Petaluma Sunrise = $ 1,527, Garberville = $ 1,279, Saint Helena = $1,205, Lakeport = $ 1,000, Petaluma Valley = $ 1,000. However we have 13 clubs with zero contributions since July 1.
REMEMBER THIS TOTAL BECOMES $ 207,817 WHEN THE 2 FOR 1 GATES CONTRIBUTION IS ADDED. Where else can a $ 1 tax deductible donation become a $ 3 donation to ENDING POLIO?
Plus this month we just completed two successful Rotary Foundation Dinners with the emphasis on ENDING POLIO. I know when these additional contributions are credited, our district totals will dramatically increase.
Also since July 1, our speakers program has reached 18 clubs in 5130 (12 presentation completed & 6 scheduled before the end of 2015). Then add additional presentations at our South R.F. Dinner, San Ramon, The Greater San Francisco Polio Survivors Meeting in late April, Downey High in early June, and participation in District 5500 Ride to End Polio in Nov.
I STRONGLY ENCOURAGE EACH OF OUR CLUBS TO SCHEDULE ONE OF OUR SPEAKERS BETWEEN NOW & JUNE 30. ( BOB ROGERS – Sebastopol -mailto:-crobertrogers at comcast.net,
TERRY BRYANT – Petaluma Valley – theressa at sbcglobal.net<mailto:theressa at sbcglobal.net>, LARRY MYERS – South Ukiah – ldmyers at pacific.net<mailto:ldmyers at pacific.net>).
Last year we spoke at 20 clubs, my goal this year is at least 30 clubs & we still have 7 months left in your Rotary year of service as President.
NOW, WHERE ARE WE AT THIS POINT IN TERMS OF ENDING POLIO? NIGERIA REMAINS POLIO FREE – THE AFRICAN CONTINENT REMAINS POLIO FREE.
Globally 52 cases in 2 endemic countries since Jan 1, 2015. (Afghanistan = 13 cases, Pakistan = 39 cases) COMPARED TO 278 CASES YTD 2014.
Current we have ongoing immunizations scheduled in AFGHANISTAN (Nov 1-3 & Nov 29 to Dec 1). PAKISTAN – scheduled concurrently with Afghanistan – we know that September & October are historically the months with the highest infection rate. CENTRAL AFRICA including Cameroon, Chad, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Democratic Repub. of the Congo - all have immunizations scheduled in November. HORN OF AFRICA including Ethiopia, Somalia, South Sudan, Kenya, Uganda, Yemen. LAO (Laos), Madagascar,
Nigeria, Ukraine, West Africa including Guinea, Niger, Mali have immunizations scheduled for November.
Thanks to Rotary, our Global Partners including the Gates Foundation, Governments, Corporations and non Rotarians around the world – we will maintain our ongoing immunizations until the highly infectious polio virus is totally eliminated. Only then can we truly celebrate our accomplishments – eradicating polio worldwide.
But especially my personal thanks to each one of you for your ongoing personal and financial support of this life changing/life saving program.
WE WILL END POLIO.
Yours in Rotary Service
Larry D. Myers, P.D.G. 5130 END POLIO FUNDRAISING CHAIR
