Chatter Bishoff was a great person and a great philanthropist.Please let as many people know as possible that Chatter's last project was this art competition which expressed her love of Rotary Park.Attached is a pdf and the text is below of an announcement of the competition.


Call to Artists: Chatter Bishoff Rotary Park Art Competition


 
TheMendocino Rotary Foundation invites entries to the Chatter Bishoff Rotary ParkArt Competition. The competition will award cash prizes underwritten byphilanthropist Chatter Bishoff. The competition, which is open to professionaland amateur artists of all ages, has extended its deadline to May 22.

Thepurpose of the competition is to imagine the open space recently purchased bythe Rotary Foundation and known as Mendocino Rotary Park, at the intersectionof Lansing and Main streets, and to involve the community in planning itsfuture.

Theart will be a vehicle to create community dialogue. An exhibit to be held atthe completion of the competition will be an opportunity for community membersto give additional feedback on the ideas illustrated in the artwork.

No one set of ideas will beelevated as a solution to be implemented. Rather, the community will be able toview all the ideas as an impetus for discussion and feedback about the futureof the park.

DETAILS

Entrantsare asked to consider the inclusion or exclusion of many possible components intheir vision of the park: paths, benches, fences, signage, gazebo, outdoorstage, farmers’ market, and whatever suits your ideal of how that space couldbe used. There are no plans to remove any trees.

Thecompetition is open to people of all ages in four categories: Professionalartist, adult, teenagers, youth 12 and under.

Twoequal cash awards will be given in each category. Awards will be based on thequality and originality of the art. The four judges are Chatter Bishoff, BarryCusick, and artists Suzi Long and Betty Cottle.

Alltwo-dimensional media are eligible. Submissions must be mounted on black orwhite foam board or mat board no larger than 11 x 17 inches.

Awardsin the professional and adult categories will be $500 each. Two awards of $350will be given in the teenager category. Two awards in the youth category willbe $150 each.

Theart will be exhibited in the Community Center of Mendocino at the end of thecompetition period. Community members will be invited to give feedback througha printed survey on features depicted in the art works.

The Rotary Park Art exhibitwill open at the Community Center on Second Saturday June 13 with an openingreception from 4:30-7:30PM.
