[Rotary] Youth Services Committee

Hello all Rotarians,

I am sending this to all members in our club because we have a very good
year of youth benefitting events and programs to look forward to in our
2015-2016 year. I am rounding up committee members to join with the few of
us who already make up this committee. As you know, it is very rewarding,
and sometimes even fun to work with our youth! If you have already told me
you were interested, please restate it now so that I can report who is on
the committee for the Board, which meets on Monday June 20th. If you want
to work on a specific project, or are willing to serve where needed, please
let me know. So far this our committee:

Sean?
Travis?

The calendar year goes like this:
*Fall-  Dictionaries for Elementary Students.* Order dictionaries,
coordinate with the elementary schools, District 5130, and our treasurer
for the purchase. Schedule dates to distribute, coordinate with Rotarians
going to meet the students and take pictures. Submit PSA and photo's for
the web and paper. *Needs a chair for this project.*

*Winter- Interact Leadership Conference.* Planning begins in mid-January
for a late March two-day conference for District 5130 High School Students.
Email and teleconference with other planners in district. Communicate with
students and school advisor. Attend conference with students and school
advisor.  Submit PSA and photo's for the web and paper. Donna will chair,
but welcomes others to participate, plan and attend.

*Winter/ Spring- Scholarships.* Communicate with Mendocino High School,
update application, or add new scholarships (like Bill Masterson Memorial).
Set deadlines, schedule pick up and reading of applications with Rotarians.
Interview finalists, attend awards night and present scholarships.
Coordinate with awardees, student's college and treasurer for disbursement
of award. Submit PSA and photo's for the web and paper. Donna will co-chair.

*Year Round- Student Exchange Program.* There is interest and talk of
getting our club exchange program active once again. Communicate with the
students, schools, parents, host families, and district. Tom Honer has
extensive experience of this program and it is possible he could advise.
Submit PSA and photo's for the web and paper. *This needs two Rotarians to
chair and to share in the responsibilities.*

*Year Round- Service Projects.* Proposed this year is redoing the Frisbee
Golf Course on the Mendocino High School Campus. Jody has been building
support for this project.  The idea is to collaborate with High School
students and community on this service project.  Submit PSA and photo's for
the web and paper. *Needs a chair for this proje**ct.*

*Year Round- Rotary Park.* Youth have been involved in the past for our
Easter egg hunt, and the Art Competition. Look for other opportunities,
work days, clean up, etc. for youth to assist with. Submit PSA and photo's
for the web and paper. *Needs a chair for this project.*

*Year Round- Interact Club Advisor.* Attend bi-weekly High school club
meetings on Wednesdays from 12:15- 12:40. Pass on information on upcoming
Interact and other events, volunteer opportunities. Learn about youth
projects and advise. Donna cannot attend often. Someone who works/lives in
Mendocino would be ideal. Submit PSA and photo's for the web and paper. *Needs
a chair for this project.*

*Spring- RYLA Camp. *Provide information to Interact Club members about
RYLA (Leadership) camp. Assist with selection process. Our club has
sponsored two students for a weeklong camp each year.  Submit PSA and
photo's for the web and paper. Donna will chair.
