[Rotary] Regarding ticket sales for Casino Night

Thank you members for pushing this to prominence for clarification.
This issue was discussed at today's board meeting. A "donation" as a tax
exemption must be just that, a donation with nothing received in return.
Casino Night tickets do NOT qualify, as each ticket is good for poker
chips, which do have value towards obtaining raffle prizes. Table sponsors
and raffle prize donors DO qualify as they get nothing in return other than
recognition of their donation. I suspect that some will consider it
advertising, but I believe that for a business that is deductible too.
So get checks for tickets made out to Mendocino Rotary Club, whereas
donations may be made out to Mendocino Rotary Foundation. Either way ALL
CHECKS AND CASH GO TO HAROLD.
This will come up again this Thursday, see you then. Meanwhile, sell those
tickets!
