I visited Wilma at the hospital yesterday and was involved in setting up the
initial schedule of volunteers to assist with reading her insulin pump
setting values. She needs someone to verify the pump numbers are correct as
she has difficulty focusing on the small instrument. I will be bringing a
schedule to Thursday's meeting for next week so club members can sign up for
a day and time to visit Wilma and help her read the pump numbers.

Wilma did not have infection or other scary problems, and is home being her
happy lovely self. There was a mechanical problem with her insulin pump
that has been corrected.

The wonderful docs and nurses at our local hospital did a great job of
detective work finding out the problem. Not only did they correct it, they
taught Wilma's team of volunteers exactly how to help to prevent a
recurrence!

Wilma will need in home assistance for the forseeable future due to limited
vision. This will initially be a combination of visiting nurses and
volunteers.

I suspect that one of you is coordinating this effort. Please identify
yourself to this listserve, so that all who want to help can get on the
schedule. If such a person does not exist, call Wilma's house to offer
help, and please consider becoming her service coordinator, even if only for
a week or two.

Your appreciative Prez,

Dr John
