I did have a surprised look on my face when I saw Wilma's friend Bruce in
the hallway of the hospital today. The good news is, Wilma was talkative
and looking quite well. She did the thing we all do- 20-20 hind sight, "If
I had only done this..." but what matters most is that she is getting the
care she needs, and lining up good caregiving assistance for home. Our role
in her recovery is important as John has stressed, supporting Bruce in
advocating for her home care is my job right now.
If any of you know someone who has home healthcare experience and would
like to share their name with me, I will make sure bring that to the Case
Manager and Wilma's attention. Home health nursing will be in a few times a
week ( they were the ones who redirected her care to the hospital), but
Wilma's home care aid must be able to do more than bedding and light
housekeeping.
