Dear Mendocino Rotarians,
At the last Board meeting, we created a temporary fundraising committee. Our simple task is to assess what other clubs in the district are doing to successfuly raise money, as well as find out what our own club member would like to do to raise money, then report back to the membership with ideas and recommendations.
So far, the committee, which meets this Thursday at 11 am in St. Anthony's Hall for the first time, includes Bruce Lewis, Chair; John Porter, and Cornelia Reynolds. Sorry if I missed anyone. Of course, anyone and everyone is welcome to participate.
At a time when the Art Auction is dying and we are struggling to find new ways to raise money, this committee will be critical to the club's future.
Going into this, my own thinking is this:
1. By researching what others are doing, we don't have to reinvent the wheel, so to speak.
2. We can figure out the right balance between fundraising and hands-on service to the community. Is is better to raise a lot of money and hand it out in small grants, or can we use "people power" to deliver service to our community with less fundraising.
So, please join us and share your ideas.
Best,
Bruce
