Rotary Club Easter Egg Hunt
At Rotary Park
Sunday April 20, 2014
1:00 PM – 2:00 PM

In order to show the community one of the uses of the newly developed
Rotary Park I suggest that the Rotary Club of Mendocino sponsor an Easter
Egg Hunt on Easter Sunday April 20, 2014 from 1-2 PM in the park.

Children ages 2-6 will be invited to a 1 hour hunt for Easter Eggs at
Rotary Park between 1 and 2 PM that afternoon. The club will furnish both
real colored Easter Eggs and a limited number of plastic Easter Eggs for
the children to find. We would award a prize to the children that find
the largest number of Easter Eggs. The limited number of plastic Easter
Eggs when opened will have a gift certificate of some kind from donating
merchants in the community. Possible merchant donators would be the toy
stores, the children’s store, restaurants, gift shops, cookie store,
chocolate store, ice cream store, etc.

Eggs would be either donated or purchased by the club and/or club members
and colored by both club members and members of the Interact Club.
Perhaps each club member could furnish 1 dozen of colored eggs. The eggs
would be hidden on the morning of Sunday April 20th by members of the
Interact Club. Interact members would also be asked to help during the
hunt. Rotary members would also be present to supervise the hunt. A
booth with a table would be set up in the park where the children would
signup for the event and bring the eggs that they find to receive the
various prizes that are offered. The children would be allowed to keep
any eggs that they find.

At the meeting of the club on Thursday February 20th, I have volunteered
to chair this project. Donna Schuler, the new Interact Coordinator
volunteered to work with the Interact Group. Jennifer Bosma also
volunteered to be available for helping with this program. Others who
have indicated some commitment are Lindsey Shields, Erich Schmid, and John
Porter. I have asked Bruce Lewis and Gloria Liner to help with publizing
the event. Possibly Guenter Riegler will be able to take some photos. We
need additional volunteers who will help getting the eggs, getting them
colored and others to obtain the prizes for the children. It is also
important that we publicize the event in the community and obtain
cooperation from the local newspaper and radio stations.

As this is a general proposal I welcome any suggestions from members of
the club.
