Thanks to all who came to help yesterday, we had a great time celebrating the season. Thanks especially to the non-Rotarians who shared in the decorating and other preparatory work, which I always find more enjoyable and gratifying than being the announcer.
If you missed it, do yourself a favor and drive by to see our first Rotary Park Holiday Tree, which is on a timer and will be lit 5-9 daily until we take it down. If you care to add non-fragile decorating touches of your own please do so, it brings big smiles to go by and see the tree "growing" with loving additions.
Special Thanks to John Innes for stepping up to the plate in Jerry's absence, to Jerry for getting the ball rolling, to Travis for cutting and placing the tree itself, and to John Porter for libations. What Rotary celebration would be complete without libations? Thanks Cornelia for coordinating with local merchants and for the music. To those I missed you too are much appreciated.
Thanks to Matt for that big ladder, I hope you've reclaimed it by now and that we can use it for disassembly. Jerry we need a date for that, how about New Year's Day? I know many are glued to the TV that day but I prefer something outdoors to shake off the NYE cobwebs and greet the New Year. We need plastic boxes to store the decorations for next year. Jerry also please start a checklist for next year to make it an even better event. Anyone with ideas please contact him.
We raked the area around the tree and through the walkway, so there is a pickup load of debris (two piles) which I hope one of you can make disappear fairly soon.
Thanks again, and Happy Holidays!
President John
