[Rotary] Rotary Meeting this week, Important Vote Too

I like both ideas BUT we have two different issues that both need to be addressed. 

1. Food costs and potentially over buying when we have a low turnout.
2. Making sure we have the appropriate amount of food, not to little & not too much. 

Nether option addresses both therefore a vote on them is just another band aid.
I respectfully suggest the voting be tabled until we have options on solving both halves of the problem.

This week our speaker is John Hewitt, telling us all about the
Mendocino Paint Out and Art Festival.  The event last year was a
rousing success, and this one should be even better.  Join your
friends and colleagues for a great meal and a great time of fellowship
and education.

Your board has been wrestling with two related issues, variable
attendance and food costs.  When we have excess food it is donated to
the Hospitality House, but there is not always someone available to
transport it in a timely manner.  When we run short it is an
embarrassment, especially to our gracious caterers at Harvest Market.
Food costs continue to rise, with no end in sight.

Be ready to vote on one of the following this Thursday:

1.  RSVP no later than 9 AM on the day of the meeting if you are
unable to attend, or if you will bring a guest.  No call and no show
will be assessed $15 for the meal, payable at the next meeting.  If
you RSVP because you can't make it, no charge.

2.  Every member pays $70 per month for meals, the only exceptions
being extended illness or a planned month(s) long vacation.  If you
make all 4 meetings you save $10, if you miss a few you have
contributed to the club coffers.  In the event we have 5 meetings in
one month it will be $90, if less we will probably have a social event
instead and the money will cover that expense.  We will still expect
you to RSVP so Harvest has a accurate meal count.

If you will miss the meeting this week, do two things right away:
Email Jennifer Bosma, and send me your vote.  I of course will say you
voted as I will...no seriously your vote is sacred here in America and
it will be tallied accurately.
