Dear Quilting Friends,

The Grapevine Quilters of Mendocino County is hosting a
lecture and presentation by noted quilt collector and historian Arlene Arnold
on June 6 in Ukiah.  Arlene’s talk, “250
Years of Quilting in America,” will highlight dozens of quilts from her
personal collection, dating back to the 1770s. 
Arlene is known for her humor and lively presentation style, and fifty
of her vintage and antique quilts will be on display.

Arnold’s interest in quilting dates to the “Great Quilt
Revival” of 1976, when the nation’s bicentennial celebration revived interest
in the arts and crafts of the past.  “Who
were these women that lived through the decades of our land? Ordinary women who
did extraordinary things!” Arnold says. “They made history just by doing what
needed to be done.”  Each quilt is a work
of art, made not just for warmth and comfort but as an act of creative
expression.           

This event will take place at the Ukiah Veterans Memorial
Building, 293 Seminary Ave. in Ukiah from 10 a.m. to 12:30 on June 6.  Refreshments will be served.  Tickets can be purchased in advance for $10
at the Mendocino Book Company in Ukiah, Country Quilts and Crafts in Willits, and
will be $15 at the door.  Advance tickets
