Hello to all!



The Sacramento Modern Quilt Guild is pleased to announce our 3rd Annual Retreat in Chico, CA on October 22-25, 2026.  

This retreat is unstructured and designed to allow maximum "get it done" sewing time.  It is also a great way to get acquainted with the Sacramento Modern Quilt Guild!

Location:  Oxford Suites, 2035 Business Lane, Chico, CA 95828

Retreat participants will be sewing in the Oxford Suites' Honey Run Hall from Thursday, October 22rd (8am) through Sunday, October 26th (noon, with an option to extend to 5pm).  

The cost for using the sewing space is $40.00 per person, TOTAL.  The fee is the same regardless of the number of days you attend.  

Tou may sign up for sewing space for one, two, three, OR all four days.  The registration form has selections for each day.

Hotel Registration Information:

Reservations for your hotel stay must be made directly with the Oxford Suites, 2035 Business Lane, Chico, CA 95828.  

Note:  It is not required to stay at the Oxford Suites to sew with us. 


The discounted group rate is:  ($124.00 - King Suite, $144.00 - 2 Queen Suite, Single or Double Occupancy).

If you wish to extend your stay (e.g., arrive Wednesday), call Oxford Suites to arrange the additional day at the group rate.

The above rates are for single/double occupancy.  A $10.00 additional person charge applies per person per night for 3 or more people per room. The above guest room rates do not include guest room tax, currently at 12.195% per night. Standard fees for early check-in and early departure may apply.

Your stay includes a full hot breakfast and an afternoon reception that includes one beverage of your choice.  

All reservations are due by September 22, 2026, after which the discounted group rate will no longer be offered. After that date, reservations for attendees will be accepted based on availability and standard rates apply.








Supplemental information:

Honey Run Hall at Oxford Suites

The sewing space will hold up to 24 sewists in two semicircles with ironing boards and cutting tables in the middle of the room.  

Additional details will be sent to participants approximately 4 weeks prior to the retreat. A waitlist will be created if needed.


Equipment/Tools for Sewing Room

Approximately 4 weeks prior to the retreat, I'll email a handout with suggested supplies to bring for personal use AND a request for volunteers to bring additional equipment for shared use.


Meals and Snacks

For those staying at the Oxford Suites:  A daily hot breakfast buffet and afternoon (5:30 to 7:30 pm) "social hour" (one complimentary drink of your choice) are included with the room rate.  Lunch and dinner are not provided.

Snack tables:  There is ample room for snack tables in Honey Run Hall.  Please feel free to bring snacks to share.  Outside catering is not permitted.

Water service is included for the sewing space.  

Meals:  Lunch and dinner are on your own.  Informal groups usually go to local eateries.  An updated list of local Chico eateries & "things to do" will be sent out approximately 4 weeks before the retreat.  For those who want a "quick bite", there are several restaurants within walking distance of the hotel, and 3 grocery stores within 5 minutes.


Local & regional quilt shops:  A list of quilt shops will be sent out approximately 4 weeks before the retreat.   https://www.cathyssewandvac.com/  has offered a discount to retreat participant in the past - I'm waiting to hear from them for this retreat.
