[Oceanwavequilters] Quilt for Alice Garner's Family

As you know, one of our very long-time members, Alice Garner, died in January.



Dee is heading a project to make a quilt for Alice's family in her memory, as a tribute to the many, many years she was a member of our guild. (Alice was also well known for her work in the kitchen at the Senior Center.) We would love to have as many members participate as are willing. 



We are going to use the Tulip block - see attached instructions. (Ginny taught this as a BOM some time ago.)



If you would like to make a block, please (a) respond to this email that you will make a block and (b) plan to have your block to Dee no later than Friday, May 5th. (If we give you any more time than that, you'll forget in the rush - we know you!! - to get your quilts done for the quilt show!! This block is simple and stitches up quickly, so jump right on it!!) You can drop your block off at Sew n Sew - make sure Dee's name is on it as well as yours, so we can mark off that we don't have to nag you!

PS: My favorite Alice story.... it was my first year as a member, and my very first retreat. People had brought items as door prizes - one of which looked kind of like the picture below: It had a circular section in the center and smaller circles around the outside, and it was pretty good sized. Alice LOVED it! She had to have it! She told us that she had the perfect use for it... her bag of potato chips would go in the center and cans of beer would go in the outside pockets!! (Those who know Alice know that this is classic Alice... she always brought a 6-pack to our retreats.) I thought it was hysterical and I vowed to win that thing and give it to Alice. It turned out I didn't need to bother... she WON! She was thrilled!



Let's make a quilt for Alice!!!
