Hello everyone,
As many of you know, I am now leading the Dress A Girl project. I have just come into an amazing amount of excellent fabrics, so will be able to put together many lovely dresses. I will be making a presentation at next Sunday's meeting, but wanted to give you a quick heads-up, because there is something you can do between now and the meeting.
The dresses need 1/2-inch or 3/4-inch elastic. If you have any extra elastic lying around, could you please bring it to the meeting? Any length beyond 7" would be wonderful.
We also need bias tape, preferably the double-wide, double-fold type (that's the wider tape). Any color will do. Each dress uses two ties, each 42-44". One package is more than enough for one dress.
Also, if you happen to have any width-of-fabric pieces that are at least 20" long that you would like to donate to the project, that would be wonderful. In fact, pieces that are 7" long (again, WOF) are good for pockets, so bring them as well. Don't worry about matching anything. The fabrics should be good quality, all or mostly cotton, pretty prints but not themed in any way.
I will have several packets made up for whoever wants to take one. My goal is to have 20 dresses made each month. The dresses take me about one to two hours to sew from start to finish and I hope that many of you will have the time and inclination to make a dress once in a while. I am very willing to walk you through your first dress if you have reservations.
Thank you. See you next Sunday!
-Evelyn
