If you would like to join in on an effort to make face masks for local healthcare workers, Coast Mask Makers is making kits for you to use. They have made over 1000 so far and are intent on making many more.

They have a Facebook page - "Coast Mask Makers" - that you can join.

The woman spearheading the group is Helena Thornton, who owns Atrium Inn in Fort Bragg. Atrium is where you can pick up kits and return completed kits. There is a drop box on the back porch of the north Atrium building.

Sharon Gieras and I are both helping to cut the fabric using the mask template. These are put into kits of 48 masks (which sounds daunting, but they really don't take that long to make). Your job is to stitch the pleats, stitch the side bindings on, serge the top and bottom hems if possible, and stitch the dart. They are currently waiting on elastic, so you can return the masks without sewing the elastic on until they get some.

Written instructions - and photo instructions - are on the Ocean Wave Quilters website - oceanwavequilters.com/forms.
