Kathy, I had the same experience in Mendocino on Saturday. I knew it was not the locals.. .they were keeping their distance. But, carloads of visitors showed up. They were all joking around and taking selfies. Most of the locals are not taking selfies…we might take a photo with our phone if something unusual is happening. I thought about going around and taking pictures of their license plates! I found it unsettling and irritating. I’ve been home trying to do my part and some people are business as usual. I know a hairdresser that sees clients in here home. Business as usual for her, too! I drove to Fort Bragg that afternoon as well and even saw cars in the motel parking lots.
I did hear from a friend who heard it from a friend…you know how that goes….that Lake County is patrolling the highways. Unless you live there, you cannot drive through their town.
I have lost all but one of bookings for my vacation rental for the months of March and April. I have one guest that still wants to see what happens the end of April.
Thanks for the opportunity to vent. Been sewing everyday!!!!

However, the bluffs road leading up the PB parking was absolutely packed with cars. Folks out in deck chairs enjoying the view. No social distancing at all. Obviously not local people but self-important folks like the those down in the city defying the gov’s order to stay home. So, even more important for all of us to stay close to home to avoid these folks and the contagion they may bring with them. I’m not an alarmist but this was unsettling. Stay safe. God knows we all have lots of projects to finish or begin.
