Hi Quilt Guild Ladies!I had been asked /offered to write up something regarding utilizing Facebook to promote the activities of the Quilt Guild. The Goal of utilizing social media (and at this point it would just be Facebook) are many fold:1) To promote the wonderful work of the Guild 2) To inspire a love of quilting and their role in the history of our country, community and family3) To attract younger women and men who might be interested in learning about quilting4) To promote the annual Quilt Show5) To thank our vendors (who will be more likely to continue their sponsorship)6) To increase our attendance at the Quilt Show,  becoming a more attractive venue for teachers and quilt and sewing vendors (thereby further increasing attendance)7) To promote area classes; retreats and quilt store specials throughout the north coastCurrently we have a closed Facebook group of about 10 people.  By opening it up we can get linked to other guilds, stores, teachers and interested folks.  We can post photos of our quilts; information about our activities and How to's. The main concern as I understand it is posting photos of individuals.  I would only post with permission, but it is possible for us to start off  with no photos of individuals.  And I can make sure that no individuals are tagged - what that means is that a photo of you and a friend might show up on that friend's Facebook page.  By untagging I can make sure that doesn't happen. There was interest in having folks opt out and having a form for that.  So a question- how many of you would actually want to opt out?  If it is just a handful, I can handle that.  And please remember, that regardless of whether or not someone opts out - I would only post photos where I had received permission from everyone to be included and then ask those who don't wish to be included to step out of that photo. So two follow-up items:1) Do you have any questions for me?2) Would you want to opt out?Thanks--- TracyTracy Salkowitz, MSW520-904-8861
