If you read this week's Advocate or Beacon (Thanks, Lonna, for mentioning the article!), you'll know that Nancy Kozak took 47 quilts to Ukiah on Monday. Sharon Burger from the Grapevine Quilter's met her at Beverly's and took half of the quilts for the Ukiah guild to distribute. Sharon also kindly took the other half to Kerrie's Quilting in Lakeport for distribution in that area.
This Sunday, we'll be meeting to make more quilts for fire victims - we've had a request from the Quilter's Sew-ciety of Redding (also a member of the Quilt Guilds of the North Quarter) for quilts for victims of the Carr Fire. Here is their appeal:
Our community was devastated by the Carr Fire with 1079 homes destroyed.  Our guild, the Quilters' Sew-Ciety of Redding has a lofty goal of providing a quilt to at least each household (and in many cases to each child affected) by this disaster.   The fire moved so fast that many people fled in a hurry and lost almost everything.   I can't even describe the devastation, but many neighborhoods look as if a bomb went off.  We wanted the victims of the Carr Fire to have something of comfort, and for many, this will be a new family heirloom to treasure. We are collecting new quilts, lap size and larger for our friends and neighbors who lost their homes in the Carr Fire.  They can be for kids or for adults.  Donations of supplies will also be collected to make quilts using newer quality quilt shop fabric, batting (Warm & Natural, Quilter's Dream, Hobbs) and thread.
We also need to restock our supply of chaplain quilts, since we depleted it to send to Ukiah and Lakeport.
We will be meeting at the Senior Center starting at 10 a.m. on Sunday, and going until maybe 3 or 4 p.m.? The club has some fabric for people to use, but bring what you can also share. If you have easy "fat quarter friendly" patterns, that would also be great. Bring your sewing machine and neutral piecing thread. Bring your lunch or something to put on the potluck table.
We'll rev up our machines and make a joyful noise!

You are an amazing group. Thanks for all you do.
