</p><div style="margin-top: 0pt; margin-bottom: 0pt; text-indent: 36pt; font-size: 12pt;" class=""><span class="">I share your concerns about the deadly coronavirus outbreak, which has infected hundreds of thousands of people around the world.</span><span style="-aw-import:spaces" "="" class=""> </span><span class="">I have been actively monitoring the spread of the virus, and </span><span class="">the U.S. federal government is taking historic steps</span><span class=""> to ensure we have the resources necessary to protect the health and safety of all Americans.</span><span style="-aw-import:spaces" "="" class=""> </span>
</div><p style="margin-top:0pt; margin-bottom:0pt; font-size:12pt" class=""><span style="-aw-import:ignore" "="" class=""> </span>
</p><div style="margin-top: 0pt; margin-bottom: 0pt; text-indent: 36pt; font-size: 12pt;" class=""><span class="">I have heard from tens of thousands of Californians about how this pandemic is affecting them and their needs from the government.</span><span style="-aw-import:spaces" "="" class=""> </span><span class="">I joined my Congressional colleagues in passing</span><span class=""> the </span><span style="font-style:italic; background-color:#ffffff" "="" class="">Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act</span><span style="background-color:#ffffff" "="" class=""> to provide</span><span class=""> support for individuals and businesses across our country that face financial hardships due to the coronavirus.</span><span style="-aw-import:spaces" "="" class=""> </span><span class="">The President signed this bill into law on March 27, 2020.</span>
</div><p style="margin-top:0pt; margin-bottom:0pt; text-indent:36pt; font-size:12pt" class=""><span style="-aw-import:ignore" "="" class=""> </span>
</p><div style="margin-top: 0pt; margin-bottom: 0pt; text-indent: 36pt; font-size: 12pt;" class=""><span class="">The </span><span style="font-style:italic" "="" class="">CARES Act</span><span class=""> includes direct payments of $1,200 to most Americans plus $500 per child.</span><span style="-aw-import:spaces" "="" class=""> </span><span class="">It also assists workers—including self-employed, part-time, and gig workers—who are laid off, furloughed, or have their hours reduced by making them eligible for an additional $600</span><span class=""> </span><span class="">per</span><span class=""> </span><span class="">week in unemployment benefits in addition to an extra 13</span><span class=""> </span><span class="">weeks of regular state unemployment benefits.</span><span style="-aw-import:spaces" "="" class=""> </span><span class="">This law</span><span class=""> also includes </span><span class="">$</span><span class="">350</span><span class=""> </span><span class="">billion in forgivable loans to small businesses and non-profit organizations to help them keep their workers employed, and $500</span><span class=""> </span><span class="">billion for distressed sectors of the American economy to help them maintain operations and employment through the crisis.</span></div><p style="margin-top:0pt; margin-bottom:0pt; text-indent:36pt; font-size:12pt" class=""><span style="-aw-import:ignore" "="" class=""> </span>
