- Present: Sheila, Barbara, Daniel, Ann, guest Sonya Nesch, advocate for mental health services.

- Sheila read the rules of Occupy meetings to Sonya.

- Sonya came to update us on the progress of Mental Health programs in Mendocino County and Fort Bragg. There are positive changes happening; as of 7/1/16 the Redwood Community Services took over from Ortner and the County kept the medication control.
Hopefully Redwood will take over medication in the future. Now it is part of the County Behavioral Health system. The website has statistics at the end of mental health that tell more. The Redwood Services is trying to hire competent people, but there is
a dreadful lack of affordable housing in Fort Bragg so some people who wanted to apply as clinicians and specialists could not move here. As of March 21 when there is a crisis, patients can go to the Management at Redwood Community Services. On June 7 Camille
Schrader will be at the meeting at the Police Department to discuss issues. The Fort Bragg Office manager hired Lisa Burtis, who is very experienced. She is setting up a comprehensive program for the Coast at the building at 544 So Main Street. One side
of the office building will be a Day Program and the other side will be education. It is called the "Healthy Living Center". There is a new chiropractor named Micah Ries who uses biofeedback to balance the right and left sides of the brain with good results.
The County could get a grant to help people with addictions, PTSD, bi-polar disorders and cravings using the biofeedback methods. This gives people a choice of treatments so they can find out what works for them. There are 3 buildings in the County that
were proposed for housing for the mentally ill homeless in a 1.3 Million grant, but the presentation was a turn-off for the Board of Supervisors and the City planners, so no one took up the grant process. The man from the County who presents the program needs
to tailor his presentation to emphasize affordable housing, not necessarily for the terminally mentally ill. Medical help on the Coast is needed - a psychiatrist sees 120 children and has now expanded to see adults! There are openings on the Mental Health
Advisory Board. The services at the Hospitality Center at the Old Coast Hotel are now done by RCS, but there is not a good reporting of progress at this time and there have been complaints. Hopefully things will improve with the new Wellness Center.

- The Veterans for Peace sailboat 'Golden Rule' sails into the Harbor Sunday 6/11 around 2pm, give boat tours then and the next day, and on Mon 6/12 at 6pm Occupy and OPC will host a community potluck. On Tues 6/13 after a day of boat tours and possibly
sail tours, at 6pm there will be a Reception at Silver's. The VFP need donations of money and supplies - we can ask Thanksgiving Coffee, Roundman's Smokehouse, the Brewery, Down Home Foods and other local merchants to pony up, as well as folks giving money
gifts. The Golden Rule will sail down the Coast of California all summer, ending up in San Diego by the end of August. Their mission is to stop Nuclear War, which is more urgent than ever with the buildup of our military, and threats from Russia, China,
North Korea and America'f Trump administration.

- Caltrans called Sheila about renewing our commitment to Highway Cleanup for the next 5 years. We can keep doing our Caspar area for as long as possible, and if we decide we cannot do it any more we will tell them later.

- 4th of July Parade is something we want to do but we will keep it simple, with the use of Bob's truck, our Banner on the side, and simple decorations. More plans at a later meeting.

- The Fort Bragg Library is planning an expansion project. The Friends of the Library bought the property adjoining the current Library, and it is a double lot so they can have off street parking as well as a 5,000 foot extention with a large auditorium,
more media, show movies and host programs there. Can be 2 stories.

They are planning a benefit with the Flynn Creek Circus on Fri 9/1 at 7pm, as well as their Labor Day Booksale. Need to advertise.

- The idea for Movie night at KNYO radio station will be tabled for a future discussion. We have several good films in mind.

- Street protest signs getting worn - we have been using them for a long time and the same issues prevail. We can fix them up after this meeting.

Meeting adjourned 4pm.
