She says there's some very nice plants hidden in there as well as small garden sculpture. I'll get some buckets for weeds maybe a hoe and shovel too to leave there. There's a very nice small 'peace' garden east of the main entrance to the Senior Center. It has benches and a selection of plants and weeds. Should be perfect and after it is spiffed up and a nice addition to the SC. Occupy folks loved the idea and Chuck was just great. He did emphasis that Occupy would have to provide materials and to maintain the spot. We have some green thumbers in the group and can manage. In early Sept we'll start rolling on the clean up and signage, etc. Hope that Howard's family can come by sometime and especially on Sept 21 for the event.
We'll keep you posted.

Best, Richard and Occupy Mendocino

Hi OM leadership team,

Chuck and I had a nice chat about planting a tree in Howard's memory and a place for a plaque.

He thought the little garden area to the right of the main entrance, below the meeting room we use, would be good. I agreed and mentioned it could be a peace garden.. (it was interesting that at our meeting on Sat. we also thought it would be a great place..)

It is a nice private peaceful place with two benches, nice plants and shrubs, but needs weeding, trimming and tending . It is not part of the Linda leitnergardening project.

We could put the plaque up on the wall of the building with little brass strips for the awarded honorees.

Chuck emphasized thet Occupy would be in charge of the garden spot and maintain it. Like our road cleanup project.

He said that we could come in the Fall to start preparing it. Probably early Sept. We are looking at Sept 21, the international day of peace
world wide as the day for a Peace Award presentation.

I think it will be a special spot and fun to fix up!

Rlichard

P.S.
