Early Friday evening, Sen. Elizabeth Warren took to the Senate floor and gave a plain-spoken, barn-burning speech that could make history and put her into serious contention to be the next President of the United States.

There are only a handful of political speeches that have such historic impact. Barack Obama's keynote speech at the 2004 Democratic Convention comes readily to mind. It's what catapulted an obscure Illinois state Senator into the national limelight and put him on the path to becoming President.

Warren's Senate speech was different, but just as electrifying...

If you're fed up with the power of Wall Street and the big banks, this speech will inspire you. And even if you aren't, watch it for its importance as a model of historically transformative political rhetoric.

We don't normally quote so extensively from media outlets, but what Miles wrote perfectly captures why we think this is Elizabeth Warren's moment -- and why we are asking our members to ratify our plans to draft her to run for president.

WATCH ELIZABETH WARREN'S SPEECH NOW. You won't regret it. Then consider chipping in to our fight to help Sen. Warren block the nomination of Wall Street crony Antonio Weiss to the Treasury Department.

Thank you for standing strong with Elizabeth Warren.
Agnes --

What has happened in the last week demonstrates why Elizabeth Warren is the leader we've been waiting for -- and why Wall Street is so scared of her.

Last night, Sen. Warren valiantly took a courageous stand on the Senate floor to stop Wall Street from gutting the crucial Dodd-Frank rules -- implemented to prevent another economic disaster like 2008 -- as part of the cromnibus bill to fund the government. Politico even reported that Jamie Dimon, the wealthy banker who runs JPMorgan Chase, was so concerned that he personally called lawmakers to urge them to vote for the bill.

Inspired by Warren's leadership and Dimon's outrageous lobbying, the Congressional Progressive Caucus rallied House members to stand strong against the bill, nearly defeating it. It's not over yet. After passing a two-day extension, the Senate still needs to pass the bill -- and Sen. Warren and Warren Wing Democrats will do everything they can to stop it.

Meanwhile, on Monday, Sen. Warren escalated her fight to stop Antonio Weiss, a Wall Street crony, from being appointed to a key post in the Treasury Department he's not qualified to hold. Now, as momentum builds behind Warren's fierce opposition, her fellow Senators are starting to join her. In the last few days, Jeanne Shaheen, Al Franken, Tammy Baldwin, Dick Durbin, and even Joe Manchin have stood up beside Sen. Warren to oppose Weiss.

That's just scratching the surface of the courageous work Sen. Warren has been doing for the American people. No wonder our friends at MoveOn just announced they are planning to spend at least $1 million to launch an unprecedented campaign to draft Sen. Warren to run for president -- and why DFA members are currently voting right now on the question of drafting Sen. Warren to launch a presidential campaign.

It's not just because we think she'd be a great president -- it's also because we want to help her rally the Democratic Party and Americans across the country to take on income inequality and take our government back from Wall Street.

Will you stand with Elizabeth Warren? Chip in $3 or more today to help DFA build a campaign to support Sen. Warren in her battle against Wall Street and Antonio Weiss.

The battle to stop Antonio Weiss and to protect strong financial regulations are becoming defining moments in the battle for the future of the Democratic Party. It doesn't stop here.

DFA and our allies are about to ramp up the pressure to stop the Antonio Weiss nomination. This battle will be decided in the coming weeks. Meanwhile, we can expect Republicans, who will control both the House and the Senate starting in January, to double down on their efforts to destroy the financial regulations put into place to prevent another economic disaster.

Elizabeth Warren is doing everything she can to hold Wall Street accountable and make sure that your government works for you -- and not for the wealthy elite. But she can't do it alone. That's why DFA members like you are crucial to helping Sen. Warren build a powerful movement to take our government back from Wall Street.

Sen. Warren needs your help. Will you pitch in to build a sustained campaign to stop Antonio Weiss -- and show Democrats that we won't let them side with Wall Street?

Thank you for helping Sen. Warren build a people-powered movement to build an economy that works for everyone.

- Eden

Eden James, Political Director
Democracy for America
