Since 2005, I have been working for Single Payer Healthcare, aka Expanded, Improved Medicare for All. That's Congressman John Conyers' new name for his Single Payer bill, HR-676.<br><br>I am currently a lay member of the Sonoma County chapter of Physicians for a National Health Program (PNHP). There are seven PNHP Chapters in California. With a number of co-sponsors, PNHP had a screening of an award winning Healthcare documentary at the Rialto Theater in Sebastopol on April 25. Following the screening, we had an enthusiastic 45 minutes Q&A/ discussion session, presided over by three PNHP doctors. [Please see attached flyer for details, co-sponsors, etc.].<br><br>PNHP is a 25 year old national organization with a membership of about 20,000 physicians dedicated to bringing Single Payer Healthcare to the U.S. and California. [reference: www.pnhp.org].<br><br>The film, narrated by actor Kiefer Sutherland, is the story of how Single Payer Healthcare originated in Canada during the 1960ies, how Canadians feel about their healthcare system, and how it compares with healthcare in the U.S.. I have a DVD copy of the film (65 minutes), and a license to screen it for the public in any venue.<br><br>My wife is taking a watercolor class at the Mendocino Art Center this coming weekend, Friday through Sunday, June 21,22, and 23. <br>I will be accompanying her but will not be taking any class. We have confirmed lodging reservations at: Hill House Inn, 10701 Palette Drive, in Mendocino (hotel phone: 707-937-0554).<br><br>I contacted Jim Tarbell earlier, hoping that a pretty good sized group of people could be gotten together for a showing of "The Healthcare Movie" (that's the title of the film!) sometime this weekend, but Jim is out of town. Do either, or both, of you wish to undertake trying to gather together an audience on such short notice? The location does not matter to me, as long as there is available either a TV screen (with DVD player) large enough to be seen by everyone, OR a laptop computer with the required software, cables, and a projector.<br><br>Is this doable? I will be checking into the Hill House Inn sometime Thursday afternoon, and I don't think that they have any computers available for guests. I would appreciate an expedited e-mail with your phone numbers, so that I can contact you, once I reach Mendocino.
