Coast Transition Towns (MCTT) is part of a worldwide movement,
a living and evolving network of human beings sharing in the
co-creation of a healthier, happier, more resilient, more
local, and more sustainable community. We are collectively
transforming our reality together and transitioning our local
scene.

In "Transition Towns," local people are working
together to build durable communities capable of responding to
the challenges of financial crisis, ecological destruction,
climate change, peak oil, resource depletion, and the many
other current challenges we face.

One important task
for those engaged with the Transition Towns process is mapping
out our community's needs and resources. The resulting clarity
allows us to move forward with our work, to see what has to be
done, and to initiate adjustments as necessary. Such a
networking process allows us also to be more accessible to
those around us, so that we can better work together to meet
our community's needs.

In the process of community
resource mapping, we will be assessing food, water, energy,
land, waste, transportation, housing, industry, natural
resources, environment, and similar resources. The categories
are defined by the group. We ask: What do we have? What do we
need? And how better can we work together to get our needs
met?

So community mapping is both the recovery and the
discovery of connections and shared ground that we all have in
a community. The resulting maps bring into perspective a new
worldview, and new useful knowledge that can open up new
conversations for possibility.

We are all mapmakers,
and every community has maps. Together we release the genius
that can only show up through our collaboration. With
different mental maps about our community, we are empowered to
do new, different, and more effective things to make our
community more resilient, more local, and more sustainable.
Come join us for this process.

[Special thanks go out
