<DIV><FONT size=2>The Honorable President Obama:</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2> I
listened to your magnificent speech at the D.N.C. and heard praises for
your efforts increasing health care coverage for millions.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2>Politicians in the pay of big money have blocked or weakened
legislation to regulate banks and to get the economy up and running.
Four million people out of work for over a year and home foreclosures on the
rise nationwide.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2>I agree with Jim Hightower who said:</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2> "The one simple thing that
would add juice to the economy is a raise in the minimum wage to
$10.00 an hour. this would elevate 30 million Americans now paid poverty wages.
While it would be tough to raise a family on a $10.00 an hour wage (
roughly equal to a yearly income of $20,800) , </FONT><FONT size=2>it would
create an immediate infusion into the economy with 30 million people
buying goods and services they have put off due to poverty level
wages."</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2>A study by the Chicago Federal Reserve Bank last year found
that every dollar increase in the minimum wage produces an immdiate
bump in the next year of $2,800. per recipient in consumer
purchases.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2>Poorly paid workers had no role in the economic crash of
2007-2008.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2>It was done by the highest paid CEOs and wealthiest
speculators. I urge you to use you powers as president to light a fire under a
corrupt Congress to raise the minimum wage now.</FONT></DIV>
