A bomb went off and violence erupted and union leaders and activists were executed for fighting for their rights. This became known as the Haymarket Affair. In the US, we ignore this history with a fake government-granted Labor Day in September, but as union members, it's important to remember that all rights were won through struggle, not granted from above. A caregiver from San Bernardino County wrote about how IHSS workers are still dealing with the same fights from 1886.
