> We have started going more to Safeway. It feels so creepy to see the Wells
Fargo folks in there smiling at people and socking in local dollars to support
anti immigrant causes. It makes me want to go stage an action.
Do any of you ever get this feeling.

> Dear Richard,
>
> In the wake of massive public pressure on the banking sector and widespread outrage about family detention and child separation by the Trump Administration, Wells Fargo publicly stated that private prisons are a risky investment and run counter to its human rights policies. Now more than 100 organizations, representing millions of people, are demanding that these banks take the next step and explicitly commit to ending their relationship with CoreCivic and the Geo Group — the two largest private prison corporations profiting from family separation and detention.1
>
> This Valentine’s Day, thousands of activists, including moms, kids, immigrants, and allies, will rally outside of the headquarters of JPMorgan Chase and Wells Fargo locations across the country to urge the banks to stop financing for-profit prison corporations.

> We need members like you to show up in numbers and flex your power! Can we count on you to attend our action in NYC <https://act.presente.org/go/33819?t=8&akid=6634%2E55380%2EJ3kkTK> and San Francisco <https://act.presente.org/go/33837?t=9&akid=6634%2E55380%2EJ3kkTK>?

> What does immigrant detention have to do with private prisons? More than 60% of immigrant detainees are held in privately owned facilities and private prisons receive over $1B a year in contracts from ICE – that's almost $5.5M a day of taxpayer money!2 The inhumane and cruel conditions our immigrant families face in these detention centers have led to deaths of 2 children in the past year.3 One death is too many, and our banks are complicit in the violation of human rights and the desecration of our democracy.
>
> We can do something about it; together, we can align our money with our values. Your hard earned dollars shouldn’t be funding the private prison industry and we must stop caging immigrant families and children for profit.

>
> Wells Fargo and JPMorgan Chase continue to fund the biggest operators of private prisons and immigrant detention centers. These banks are supporting an industry responsible for widespread human rights abuses and deeply unethical business practices — profiting from confining mostly Black and brown adults and youth in some of the most dangerous and abusive conditions in the country. We won’t stand by while banks profit politically and financially from tearing apart families and traumatizing children. We need you to flex your people power and invest back in communities.
>
> Every family should have a safe bed to tuck their children into at night, but CoreCivic and Geo Group are profiting off of traumatized children and families who are separated and locked up just for seeking that safety. We have the power to correct Trump’s zero-humanity policy by holding private prison profiteers accountable; it is ultimately up to us to free our families and reunite children with their parents.
