Richard suggests we involve Andy Wellspring in this project.

Subject: [Occupymendocino] Student Essays

At yesterday's Occupy Mendocino meeting, we decided to bring back an essay competition geared to middle- and high-school students. Possible subjects: Civil Rights Today; Harassment in Schools; Education Tomorrow; King and Chavez: Similarities and Differences; etc. Your topic suggestions are invited.

We'd like to discuss the essay competition with teachers and school boards and we're counting on your help. When do boards in Mendocino and Fort Bragg meet? Who should we contact (principals, social studies teachers)?

Ideally, we'd like to announce prize winners this school year and have the winners read their essays in class or auditorium, but much depends on what's on the schools' agendas.

Thanks for your help and for all you do to support progressive values.

John
