We all deserve to have our basic needs met. Yet millions of people around the world have their human rights violated.

Our new research published today shows that every year, governments are diverting over $1 trillion worth of resources away from people and public services towards big companies. Meanwhile, hundreds of millions of people face hunger every single day and at least half the world’s population are denied access to essential health services.

It is often people in the world’s poorest countries that suffer the most, while companies in Europe and North America get richer and richer.

To illustrate, the $1 trillion stolen by corporations every year is enough to:

  *   Triple the money spent on healthcare for half the world’s population
  *   Provide a seven fold increase in the global aid budget
  *   Fund the NHS six times over

It’s time that our governments start to make different choices - choices that prioritise people over corporations.
