I’m running for Lt. Governor in order to transform a citadel that has
surrendered to corporate influence.

I have been in Southern California this last week meeting with and hearing
from many wonderful people. I tell them that ours is an*organizing
campaign* and that the successful experience of the Richmond Progressive
Alliance is what I bring to share.

"Sharing our Experience: The Richmond Progressive Alliance" is a video that
also shares our story: https://www.youtube.com/watch? v=UxthsOj2yhc

Friends, it is not just Washington, but also Sacramento that is lost to the
corporations. Sacramento is infested by corporate lobbyists carrying big
checkbooks and threats. Both corporate-Democrats and corporate-Republicans
have the California Bear on a chain and make it dance for the 1%.

Sacramento recently gave us an expanded cap-and-trade bill written by oil
industry lobbyists, which maintains high pollution and takes away local
pollution control. Sacramento shelved single-payer to please insurance and
pharmaceutical companies. Sacramento just puts measures on the ballot for
us to tax ourselves further.

*Local organizing is the key to building the California that we need and
want.*

The local organizing road is there for you and your community to walk. We
are in this together. Corporations don’t just want more, they want it all.
It is up to you and me and the teachers, workers, activists, nurses, bus
drivers, builders, plumbers, writers, students, civil servants, tellers,
poets, caregivers, and artists to get in the way and stop them. Build local
political power. Be inclusive and diverse. Find local progressive common
ground. Take no corporate money. Run for office.

If we did it in Richmond, it can be done anywhere and everywhere.

"Sharing Our Experience: The Richmond Progressive Alliance" offers some
insights on the criteria with which we built the Richmond Progressive
Alliance (2003-2017), and introduces you to some of our great members. You
can watch it above and also join in my campaign as we close the third
quarter.

I’m running for Lt. Governor to spread this message of organizing and to
help people build in their own communities. When I am Lt. Governor I will
continue to support local progressive corporate-free organizing and rally
people together everywhere to fight for policies that benefit all
California working families.

I appreciate your financial help to our campaign - would you donate $27 or
more by Saturday's deadline?
