Stop the $5 Billion Nuclear Tax Bailout!<http://org2.salsalabs.com/dia/track.jsp?v=2&c=ClWRmg%2Fr2dNGWaUxRLBhYIG4u0ggm5KS>
Email your Senators and tell them to oppose HR1551.

Dear Friend,
The nuclear industry is trying to push through a multi-billion-dollar bailout to keep the fantasy/nightmare of nuclear power alive. This time, they're going to Congress. Stopping this bill (HR 1551) could end the so-called “Nuclear Renaissance” once and for all.
Tell your Senators today: “Vote NO on the nuclear tax bailout!”<http://org2.salsalabs.com/dia/track.jsp?v=2&c=erywRd24GNUlr1rLt%2BL6P4G4u0ggm5KS>
Utilities in Georgia and South Carolina are building four new reactors that are all billions of dollars over budget and years behind schedule. We all knew this would happen, but these reactors are less than half-way built and have already bankrupted Westinghouse, the largest builder of reactors in the world – proof that nuclear power is a failed technology with no future.
Some or all of these reactors could be cancelled soon, despite billions of dollars in state and federal subsidies. But one of those subsidies – the Nuclear Production Tax Credit – could expire before any of these nuclear boondoggles can be completed. Utilities can only take the tax credit for electricity the reactors actually generate, and it appears none of them will be completed before the program expires by law in 2020, saving taxpayers over $5 billion.
<http://org2.salsalabs.com/dia/track.jsp?v=2&c=xm9kjeqTZMeQzpy2C7SwqIG4u0ggm5KS>Contact your senators now: “Not one more of our tax dollars to bail out dirty, dangerous, failing nuclear power plants!”<http://org2.salsalabs.com/dia/track.jsp?v=2&c=mzm8Dkle6J2DGf9cVuOvC4G4u0ggm5KS>
So what are Georgia Power, SCANA, and Westinghouse doing? Begging Congress to rush through a bill that would NOT ONLY eliminate the 2020 expiration date, but give $2.6 billion in federal tax credits to tax-exempt state utilities and cooperatives that co-own half of these new reactors.
Why? To allow the non-profit utilities to transfer the credits to the for-profit utilities and Westinghouse, of course.
Stop this wasteful, dangerous nuclear bailout today! <http://org2.salsalabs.com/dia/track.jsp?v=2&c=NL8%2B7HcBgcIm7CVWH2qnMIG4u0ggm5KS>
The House of Representatives passed HR 1551 last week, and Senate Majority Leader McConnell is pushing for a Senate vote this week, before the American public can find out about it. And President Trump has already said he will sign the bill.
The whole bill amounts to a $5 billion bailout to four dirty, dangerous reactors – using a new and still-unproven design – that have already had major construction and manufacturing problems.
Contact your Senators – stop the nuclear tax bailout and end the Nuclear Relapse!<http://org2.salsalabs.com/dia/track.jsp?v=2&c=FmrWeoaQTJZOlAL9kXos34G4u0ggm5KS>
