Donald Trump and his Republican friends thought it was going to be easy. They would get to Washington and ram through their agenda, taking health care away from 30 million Americans, privatizing Medicare, and defunding Planned Parenthood, while giving tax cuts to their millionaire and billionaire friends.

Their plans have begun to unravel, but only because of the tremendous levels of grassroots actions we've witnessed -- town halls overflowing with constituents, rallies across the country, and of course the unprecedented outpouring of activism during the women's march.

We cannot stop. The impact of what Republicans are planning would be devastating to the working men and women of this country. If they repeal the Affordable Care Act it would cut health care for the poor and privatize it for the aging.

Thirty million Americans will lose their health insurance, but that is not all. Half of American households have someone with a pre-existing condition that will put coverage out of reach. Seniors could see their Medicare premiums rise by as much as 50%, while their benefits are slashed and their prescription drug costs increase an average of $2,000.

This is unacceptable. Our country must go forward and join the rest of the industrialized world and make health care a right, not a privilege. We should be moving towards a Medicare for All system instead of limiting coverage. Republicans, want to take us backwards by forcing working class Americans to lose their coverage and seniors to pay more, all the while giving huge tax cuts to Mr. Trump’s millionaire friends.

That is why it’s critical we organize and demonstrate. If the American people rise up, we can force Washington to listen. We need your help to make that happen.
