Baker --

This is a crucial moment in American history.

*Do we, as a country, join the rest of the industrialized world to
guarantee comprehensive health care to every person as a human right?* Or
do we maintain a system that is enormously expensive -- and is designed to
maximize profits for huge insurance companies, pharmaceutical companies,
and Wall Street?

The good news is that, every day, more and more Americans are waking up and
realizing that health care is a right worth fighting for.

The Republican push to take health care away from millions of people, led
by Donald Trump, has made one thing very clear: We need a Medicare for All
single-payer health care system -- and the fight to make that system a
reality will be a defining issue for Democrats and for Republicans in the
2018 campaign cycle, in 2020, and beyond.

*Democracy for America has always been a pivotal partner of mine in the
fight for Medicare for All and a single payer system. That's why I'm asking
you to do something important right now in the fight for justice:*

*Please chip in $27 to support DFA's work in 2018 to elect progressive
candidates like me who will relentlessly fight for Medicare for All from
the campaign trail to Congress. Together, we can make it not just a right
-- but a reality.*

Multiple times over the course of this year, Republicans tried to take
health care access away from millions of Americans. *And every single time,
DFA members fought to stop them. *

Fighting back against Trump's endless attacks on health care is important.
But it's not enough. We have got to go forward, not backward. While the
Affordable Care Act was a step forward, it is not enough.

Today, more than 28 million Americans have no health care at all and even
more are underinsured with high deductibles and co-payments. We also pay,
by far, the highest prices in the world for prescription drugs.

*The status quo is not working. Our health care system is rigged to provide
big insurance companies and drug companies with billions of dollars in
profits at the expense of everyone else, and that needs to change.*

That's why I, along with 16 other Democrats, introduced a Medicare for All
single-payer bill earlier this year -- and why tens of thousands of DFA
members signed on in support of this historic bill.

Now, we're not going to pass my Medicare for All legislation as long as
Republicans are in charge. And there are some establishment Democrats who
would rather not see it pass, either -- I know that very well.

The only way we are going to make a Medicare for All single-payer system a
reality is if we have a revolution in our political system, where millions
of Americans stand up to the insurance industry and the pharmaceutical
industry by electing representatives who will fight for the people, not
just big corporations and the billionaire class.

*Democracy for America has a long history of standing with candidates who
will fight to make health care a right for everyone.* For example,
Democracy for America members made 2.5 million calls in 2016 using DFA
Dialer to elect candidates like *Sen. Kamala Harris* and *Rep. Pramila
Jayapal* -- and now they are two of most important leaders we have on
Capitol Hill fighting for Medicare for All.

Right now, DFA is laying the groundwork for a huge Medicare for All push in
2018. They're already supporting many of the Senate co-sponsors of my
Medicare for All bill, including *Sen. Elizabeth Warren* and *Sen. Tammy
Baldwin.* And DFA is backing union member *Randy Bryce*, another big
Medicare for All supporter, to unseat House Speaker Paul Ryan.

*DFA has played a critical role in building our political revolution from
the beginning. And if we work together, we can make a huge difference in
our political system by electing a strong slate of Medicare for All
champions in 2018.*

*So I’m asking you -- can you contribute $27 (or whatever you can afford)
to support my friends at DFA today? It would mean a great deal to me.*
