I attended this meeting, and it had a lot of interesting folks involved. I'm not sure about the next meeting, but there were signups for committees, and I guess it will be announced.

Subject: [MCN-Announce]- Coastal Housing Action Team Meeting August 8, 2PM
To: announce <announce at lists.mcn.org<mailto:announce at lists.mcn.org>>

Healthy Mendocino (www.healthymendocino.org<http://www.healthymendocino.org> <http://www.healthymendocino.org/>) has formed five Action Teams that are examining Childhood Obesity and Family Wellness, Childhood Trauma, Poverty, Mental Health, and Housing. There are coastal and inland teams for all of these priority areas.

Members of the Coastal Housing Action Team would like to invite concerned citizens to our next meeting scheduled for August 8 at 2:00 PM at the office of the Noyo Headlands Unified Design Group at 303 N. Franklin St. in Fort Bragg. This will be our second meeting.

The housing crisis effects a broad sector of coastal Mendocino County. It is not limited to the homelessness we observe in the streets. Public and non-profit social service agencies all attest to the strain that high rents and scarce supplies place on working families. Mendocino County public employee turnover is high in part due to the housing shortage. Our hospitals, schools, and private employers all have difficulty attracting and retaining qualified employees. Our rural fire districts lose volunteers on a regular basis.

The members of the Coastal Housing Action team come from a broad range of social service agencies and private citizens. We are just beginning to determine what areas we would like to focus on, how we will define ourselves, and how we will interact with the political, social, and economic structures so that we can have a meaningful impact. Please consider joining us.

Further questions about this or any aspect of Healthy Mendocino can be addressed to Project Manager Thais Mazur, thais at mcn.org<mailto:thais at mcn.org> <mailto:thais at mcn.org<mailto:thais at mcn.org>>
