It’s official: nuclear weapons are illegal.
Please tell your Members of Congress to stop the new nuclear arms race

Dear Ann,

[Peace Lanterns]<http://www.e-activist.com/ea-action/broadcast.record.message.click.do?ea.url.id=1000335&ea.campaigner.email=RSV8xKWSow0vPL5r3wNF6sQaztlvuLM%2B&ea.campaigner.id=m41p1NpoegyZkArzVWMSmA==&ea_broadcast_target_id=0>
Nuclear weapons have been outlawed. Now, on the anniversaries of the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, send a message to your Members of Congress<http://www.e-activist.com/ea-action/broadcast.record.message.click.do?ea.url.id=1000336&ea.campaigner.email=RSV8xKWSow0vPL5r3wNF6sQaztlvuLM%2B&ea.campaigner.id=m41p1NpoegyZkArzVWMSmA==&ea_broadcast_target_id=0> asking them to stop the new arms race.

Each year, on the anniversaries of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima (August 6) and Nagasaki (August 9), the world takes a moment to reflect on the humanitarian impact of nuclear weapons. Will you take a moment today to tell Congress to stop the new arms race?<http://www.e-activist.com/ea-action/broadcast.record.message.click.do?ea.url.id=1000337&ea.campaigner.email=RSV8xKWSow0vPL5r3wNF6sQaztlvuLM%2B&ea.campaigner.id=m41p1NpoegyZkArzVWMSmA==&ea_broadcast_target_id=0>

This year, the Hiroshima and Nagasaki anniversaries follow historic events at the United Nations: on July 7th, 122 out of 124 nations at a UN conference voted to adopt the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons.This treaty outlaws nuclear weapons based on their humanitarian impact. Hiroshima survivor Setsuko Thurlow told the UN delegates: "I have been waiting for this day for seven decades and I am overjoyed that it has finally arrived. This is the beginning of the end of nuclear weapons."

Unfortunately, along with the other nuclear-armed countries, the United States boycotted the treaty negotiations. Ambassador Nikki Haley also issued a statement on July 7th indicating the U.S. will not sign the treaty, and the U.S. House and Senate are considering budgets that support a vast nuclear weapons spending binge with a price tag of $1.2 trillion over the next 30 years. Please sign on to PSR's petition<http://www.e-activist.com/ea-action/broadcast.record.message.click.do?ea.url.id=1000338&ea.campaigner.email=RSV8xKWSow0vPL5r3wNF6sQaztlvuLM%2B&ea.campaigner.id=m41p1NpoegyZkArzVWMSmA==&ea_broadcast_target_id=0> to tell your U.S. Representative and Senators to freeze spending on the nuclear weapons buildup and support the nuclear weapons ban treaty.

[Take Action]<http://www.e-activist.com/ea-action/broadcast.record.message.click.do?ea.url.id=1000339&ea.campaigner.email=RSV8xKWSow0vPL5r3wNF6sQaztlvuLM%2B&ea.campaigner.id=m41p1NpoegyZkArzVWMSmA==&ea_broadcast_target_id=0>

Sincerely,
